Professional Practice Requirements in Somalia

Foundation

This level establishes the fundamental academic and technical base required to enter the accounting profession. It introduces core accounting principles, business law, economic concepts, and quantitative techniques that underpin professional accounting practice.

Intermediate I

This level builds on foundational knowledge by developing applied accounting and business competencies. Candidates gain practical skills in financial and cost accounting, taxation, and professional communication, preparing them for real-world accounting environments.

Intermediate II

This level enhances professional judgment, analytical thinking, and technical proficiency across key accounting functions. Emphasis is placed on financial reporting, assurance, taxation, and management accounting to support informed decision-making and compliance with professional standards.

Advanced

This level focuses on advanced professional competence, strategic thinking, and governance. Candidates develop the ability to manage complex financial reporting, conduct advanced assurance engagements, contribute to strategic decision-making, and uphold strong corporate governance and ethical leadership.

Practical Experience
Requirement

In addition to successfully completing all examinations, CPA candidates are required to obtain a minimum of three (3) years of relevant practical experience.
